Florida Fraud Trial Hits a Snag as Defense Requests Extension for Review of Five Terabyte Discovery Submission

The ongoing fraud trial in Florida involving Stanton Witherspoon and others has hit a snag as their counsel has filed a Motion for extension of the case in U.S. District Court of Southern Florida.

The defense team cited the need for extra time to review the Government’s voluminous five terabyte discovery submission and for good faith discussions to resolve the case.

The joint Motion requested a 90-day continuance for the trial to commence, with hopes that the U.S. Government will not oppose it.

However, the U.S. District Court has issued an Order to Continue the Trial to October 3rd, with defense counsels requested to file their objections two weeks before the new trial date to the draft Presentencing Report.
