
As part of the effort to eradicate the global coronavirus crisis from Liberia, the People’s Liberation Party has donated anti-COVID-19 materials to many political subdivisions of the country.
The counties that benefited from the gesture include Bong, Bomi, Lofa, Margibi, Gbarpolu, Grand Cape Mount, Grand Bassa, Nimba, Montserrado and River Cess respectively.
Addressing a news conference Thursday at the PLP national headquarters in Congo Town, the party’s Assistant Secretary General for Media and Public Relations, Stephen Vorkpor said the party’s move is aimed at buttressing the efforts on national government to save lives.
According to Vorkpor, the People’s Liberation Party, through its political leader Dr. Daniel Cassell, has chosen not to just sit and watch others fight against the coronavirus crisis but to help other concerned citizens, including the government in the interest of the citizens across the country.
The PLP made available to the ten counties’ coordinators of the party, gloves, nose masks, delta, tie-soap, hand sanitizers, buckets, Vitamin C, and other essential items.
According to the PLP Assistant Secretary General for Media and Public Relations, the team will distribute the assorted items and keep cautioning citizens to follow the preventive measures, stressing that the constant washing of hands will help prevent the transformation of the virus in the homes of citizens across the country.
He further noted that the counties, through their party’s coordinators will secure the donated materials through given guidelines from the executives of the People’s Liberation Party to ensure that the most vulnerable citizens receive a fair share of the items.
Also speaking, PLP Health and Mobile Clinic Team, Nicholas Koffa stressed that the party does not include segregation in its activities, adding that they will reach the distribution process to other counties.
He said the party’s health team will work collaboratively with health teams of the counties to benefit the residents.
Koffa also warned citizens upon receiving the donated items, not to sell or keep the items in house but to use them for the intended purpose.
In a brief remark, PLP Montserrado County Chapter Coordinator, Reuben Washington lauded the party and its political leader, Dr. Daniel Cassell for the gesture.
