UN in Liberia; Joins Global #WalktheTalk #HealthForAll Challenge to Promote Healthy Lifestyles and Prevent Non-Communicable Diseases

On May 20, 2023, the UN in Liberia and their loved ones came together to participate in the global #walkthetalk #HealthForAll challenge leading up to the 76th World Health Assembly beginning on May 22, 2023, in Geneva.

Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are prevalent worldwide and Liberia is not immune to their impact.

The UN team began the event by walking from their building to the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial complex in Monrovia, where they concluded with aerobics warm-down exercises.

The UN Doctor delivered a health talk on hypertension and diabetes, emphasizing the importance of physical activity and healthy eating habits to prevent and manage these diseases. He encouraged participants to prioritize exercise as part of their lifestyle.

The fourth edition of Walk the Talk coincides with WHO’s 75th anniversary year, providing an opportunity to promote solidarity and healthy lifestyles.

The World Health Organization, along with the UN family, Member States, athletes, local sports clubs, health partners, and the Geneva community, are joining forces to celebrate the importance of physical and mental health.
