25-Year-Old Darius P. Siryon has been Sent to Court for Allegedly Biting Off 17-Year-Old Henry Giddings’ Tongue

The Liberia National Police on Monday, February 28, 2022 charged and sent to court defendant Siryon with the crimes Criminal attempt to commit Murder and Aggravated Assault in violation with Chapter 10 section 10.1 and Chapter 14 section 14. 20 of the revised penal code of Liberia.

The police investigation revealed that victim Henry Giddings along with his parents were living in out Land community, Paynesville and defendant Darius Siryon also live in the same area with John W. Tokpah.

It stated that while the wake keeping of a lady only identified as Ma Fumbah was ongoing defendant Siryon took victim Giddings to a nearby old security boot within a fence and used his teeth to cut the victim’s tongue from his mouth after which the amputated portion of the victim tongue was discovered in the grass, hours later the victim was taken to ELWA hospital for medical treatment by his mother Angeline Peabody.

According to the investigation, the distal third of the victim’s tongue was found amputated and the stump was infected and necrotic but the patient didn’t consent for a thorough physical exam to elicit any possible associated injuries evidence of the medical report.

The findings, adding that an abuse (Sodomy) was not established against victim Giddings as was insinuated and that he had since been transferred on February 18, at the 14 Military hospital located Shefflelin, RIA Highway undergoing medical treatment.

Meanwhile, during Police preliminary probe conducted, suspect Siryon told investigators that on Friday, February 4, 2022 at 1:00AM, he was attacked by Three unknown persons while on his way from a wake keeping.

He furthered that, they succeeded in taking away his Tecno Pop 5 phones valued at USD120 and his wallet that contained his Liberian citizen ID Card plus Four Hundred Twenty Liberian dollars (LRD420).

Suspect Dairus Siryon continued that Two of the attackers escaped, while they left victim Henry Giddings in a fist fight with him who later attempted to bite him. According to the suspect, victim Giddings’ tongue mistakenly entered his mouth and he (suspects Siryon) bit it off.
