An officer of the Liberia National Police, Samuel Tulay, a patrol officer of the Police Support Unit (PSU) is currently hospitalized at the ELWA hospital after allegedly attempting suicide.
Officer Tulay is said to have come from work on Saturday evening about 10 PM, when he was offered food by his mother. He refused to eat, with no reason given for refusing his mother’s food.
According to the victim’s mother, she only heard a gun sound in her son’s room. When they went to inquire, he had fired on himself around his right eye.
He was rushed to the ELWA hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
In a release, the LNP said it’s leadership has reached out to the family and is working to ensure the well-being of the officer.
The LNP leadership has effectively commenced investigation in establishing circumstances that led to the alleged attempted suicide.
