Thomas Kurtha, a Bible study teacher, has been incarcerated in Monrovia Central Prison for allegedly committing statutory rape with a minor who is only 15 years old.
The unfortunate incident took place on April 7, 2023, on the day when Kurtha and the victim were supposed to attend Easter Service at First Love Church in Cooper Farm Mount Barclay.
The victim’s mother, Tonia Tah, narrated that she caught Kurtha with her daughter engaging in sexual activity in his house.
Acting on a tip-off, Tonia went to Kurtha’s house and apprehended him in the act.
Kurtha has been charged by the Liberia National Police for committing statutory rape, which is a violation of Section 14.70 1, a, I and b, of the Rape Law.
He has confessed to the crime, but claims that he was forced to do so by his uncle.
The case is currently awaiting trial.
