Brownie Samukai Asks Criminal Court C for Payment Extension

Lofa County Senator-elect Brownie Samukai has asked Criminal Court C Judge Ousman Feika to enlarge his time to make the 50% payment within one year from August 25, 2021 to August 25, 2022.

The former Defense Minister’s quest comes ahead of the August 25, 2021 pretrial conference before Criminal Court C Judge Ousman Feika to ascertain the status of the payment of the AFL pension money.

It can be recalled that the Supreme Court of Liberia reaffirmed the lower court’s decision and ruled on February 24, 2021, giving Samukai and co-defendants six months from the date of the ruling to make 50% of the amount to be restituted.

Accordingly, his plea is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has affected all economies globally and other financial difficulties beyond their control, as a result of the outbreak.
