Controversial talk show host, Henry Costa trashes BVR preliminary result released by the NEC; describes it as a national disaster

Political commentator and talk show host, Henry Costa has described the preliminary results released on the Biometric Voter registration by the National Elections Commission as a national disaster.

On Monday, the National Elections Commission disclosed the total of one million, four hundred thirty-five thousand two hundred and nine citizens registered during phase one of the BVR in the first six counties.

The controversial political commentator stressed the NEC has failed to deliver its constitutional mandate through the conduct of a free and fair voter registration process in the country.

He named the malfunctioning of voter registration machines and staff of the NEC he claimed lacked adequate knowledge about the process, noting that the outcome of the phase one of the BVR is an evidence.

Costa also re-echoed calls by some politicians that the NEC needs to extend the BVR exercise to give other citizens the opportunity to register.

Addressing a press conference in Congo Town, Mr. Costa expressed concern about the high level of poverty prevailing among the ordinary people in the country.

According to him, the widespread prevalence of children selling on the streets rather than being in schools where they should be productively molded as future leaders, is beyond heart breaking.
