The National Elections Commission (NEC) has received a generous pledge of US$500,000 in electoral assistance from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in preparation for the upcoming October 10 Presidential and Legislative elections.
The NEC has been facing challenges in securing sufficient funds to ensure a successful election process, leading to concerns about the government’s inability to fully support the commission’s budgetary needs.
NEC Chairperson Davidetta Brown-Lassanah announced that the nomination period for candidates has commenced and will conclude on July 14, 2023, emphasizing the importance of a smooth and transparent electoral process.
