Finance Minister Samuel Tweah fires back at the US government’s visa restriction, claiming it is a deliberate tactic to divert attention away from the CDC’s role as a critical opposition force.
Minister Tweah, who has been sanctioned, dismisses the measures taken against him as a ploy to distract the CDC from its strong political opposition. He argues that the sanctions were imposed because he allegedly favored Accelor Mittal Company over American Company HPX, by obstructing their access to the rail for their investment in Guinea via Liberia.
The sanctioned Minister firmly asserts that he has never interfered with legislative proceedings, government branches, or private sector entities. He expressed his views during a press conference on Thursday, December 14, 2023, stating that the actions against him and other CDC officials do not align with the foreign policy objectives of the US Department of State. Instead, he believes that influential individuals within the US government are intentionally working to weaken the CDC.
