Internal Affairs Minister Dismisses Rivercess Native Superintendent for Carrying Out Sasay Wood

The Minister of Internal Affairs, Honorable Varney A. Sirleaf, has dismissed Mr. Solomon Wheh, Native Superintendent of Rivercess County, with immediate effect.

Mr. Wheh was dismissed Wednesday for violating the terms of reference assigned to him.

A press release from the Ministry said it has been established that among several other violations, Mr. Wheh is also administering Trial-by-Ordeal (Sasay wood) in the county, which the government’ banned many years ago.

In recent days, Mr. Wheh has been involved with administering lot-casting, also known locally as sandcutting, the outcome of which has no scientific backing.

Minister Sirleaf has instructed Rivercess County Superintendent Bismack Karbiah to work with the joint security in ensuring that Mr. Wheh’s activities are put to immediate end.

Meanwhile, MinisterSirleaf wishes to inform the public that Mr. Wheh is no longer acting on behalf of the MIA; therefore anyone working with him will be doing so at his/her own risk.
