Modern AFL Advances as Captain Ballah Completes Graduate Studies

As the government of Liberia strives to advance the Armed Forces of Liberia, personnel seem to be living up to that dream as Capt. Ballah Gabriel Pewee has graduated from the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), People’s Republic of China with a Master’s Degree in Information and Telecommunications Engineering.

According to the Defense Ministry, he graduated with first class upper division and with distinction. He also received the Chief of Staff AFL Medal of Commendation for his exceptional performance during his studies.

The AFL Officer also obtained a diploma in Innovative Digital Economy from Asia’s Premier University, Tsinghua University, in Beijing. During his studies, the Liberian Embassy near Beijing confirmed the nomination of Capt. Pewee as Coordinator for the Liberian Students Union in Beijing from 2019 to 2020.

The report states that prior to his study in Beijing, Capt. Pewee earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics with Honor from Africa’s Premier Military University, The Nigerian Defense Academy in Kaduna State, Nigeria as a member of 59 Regular Course Army.

Captain Pewee also took military courses, including Platoon Commander, Airborne Course, Air Assault Course, Counter Terrorism and Counter Insurgency Course, Leadership and Staff Development Course, Disaster Management and Preparedness Course, Map Reading and Land Navigation Course
and United Nations Pre-employment Course.

Capt. Pewee has served as AFL as Platoon Commander, Company Commander, and Battalion Intelligence Officer. He also served as Military Assistant to the Hon. Minister of National Defense.

The Capt. is a member of the 1st Infantry Bn 23rd Inf Brigade. Capt. Pewee studied at the USTB from September 5, 2018 to June 25, 2021
