US Embassy Near Monrovia Applauds GOL Through FIU

The US’ embassy near Monrovia has applauded the government of President Weah through, its ๐—™๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐—œ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฒ๐—น๐—น๐—ถ๐—ด๐—ฒ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ฒ ๐—จ๐—ป๐—ถ๐˜, an institution responsible to ensure proper accountability of funds under the Weah-led government. It can be recalled couple of days ago, the institution labelled ๐—ž๐—ผ๐—ฟ๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฒ ๐—œ๐—ป๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜๐—บ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐˜€ ๐—Ÿ๐—ถ๐—ฏ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ฎ ๐—Ÿ๐—Ÿ๐—– as a High-risk money laundering shell company.

The ๐—จ๐—ฆ ๐—˜๐—บ๐—ฏ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐˜† recognizes the actions of the ๐—™๐—œ๐—จ, to be a courageous step forward for Liberia in the fight against transnational money laundering and the recognition of corruption’s ability to corrode democracy.

“We applaud the actions of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Liberia in its designation of Korlane Investments Liberia LLC as a high-risk money laundering shell company. This is a courageous step forward for Liberia in the fight against transnational money laundering. We also commend the Inter-Ministerial Committee for approving these actions”. unquote.

The embassy statement further indicates her anticipation of the Weah-led government efforts to implement promises made to fight and prosecute corrupt individuals.

“We look forward to the implementation of related bold commitments made by H.E. President George Weah in his official statement at the Summit for Democracy: โ€œMy government commits to fighting corruption at the highest level .

We will propose legislation for the establishment of a dedicated criminal court for the prosecution and convictions of public officials and individuals or institutions engaged in corrupt practices and financial offenses.โ€ ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜๐˜‚๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป๐˜€ to the Weah-led government for keeping her promises made during the 2017 presidential elections. This is what we called government of the people.
