National GBV Taskforce Holds Retreat to Strengthen Institutions and Accessibility to Survivors

The National Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Taskforce, spearheaded by the Ministry of Gender, Children & Social Protection with the support of the European Union/United Nations Spotlight Initiative through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is holding a two-day retreat to assess and validate the GBV Accountability Framework.

This event is also providing a space for stakeholders to ponder on the national GBV coordination mechanisms and strategies in order to fortify institutions and make recommendations for improved services and accessibility to survivors of gender-based violence.

The forty-plus active members of the taskforce are made up of representatives from Civil Society Organizations, National & International Non-Governmental Organizations, Community Based Organizations, United Nations agencies, Ministries, Agencies and Commissions (MACs) and State Owned Enterprises (SOEs).

The primary focus of the taskforce is to monitor GBV trends and interventions, address related challenges, and advocate for policy and institutional strengthening.
