
Report coming in from Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County says a police station has been set ablaze by angry citizens of the county after an officer of the Liberia National Police whose name is not yet identified allegedly killed a citizen of that area.
According to an eyewitness who was on the scene when the incident occured, the police officer allegedly hit the president of the Motorcyclist Union of Zwedru after they gathered early Tuesday morning at the shop of a Fula businessman demanding that hey release the body of a young man he beat up a few days ago that led to his untimely death.
The report said the Fula businessman in question allegedly beat up a young man which led to his death at a local hospital in the county.
The eyewitness noted that while at the shop of the Fula businessman, the angry crowd was also demanding his arrest.
“The Officer of the Liberia National Police came from the other side of the road with his vehicle and hit the boy. We were shouting stop you hit someone but he rolled on the boy with the car and drove away,” the eyewitness said.
Meanwhile, citizens are calling on authorities of the Liberia National Police in the county to turn over the officer of the Liberia National Police who allegedly killed the motorcyclist president to them. They have threatened that there will be no peace until they have the alleged perpetrator, noting that it is not his first time to hit a peaceful citizen.
