Several political hopefuls have started to take down their pre-campaign materials as per the directives of the National Elections Commission (NEC).
In compliance with the NEC’s mandate, billboards, posters, and banners, among other promotional materials, have been removed in Paynesville City, Congo Town, and Monrovia.
The Commission had earlier begun documenting campaign violations nationwide on May 5, 2023, and subsequently cautioned potential candidates to refrain from such activities or face a penalty.
The fines for violating campaign regulations can range from one thousand to five thousand US dollars.
