President-Elect Boakai Heads to the US for Consultations and Family Visit Amid Transition Preparations

On Friday, December 1, 2023, President-Elect Joseph Boakai will be embarking on a journey to the United States of America, according to an official statement from his office.

This decision comes at a crucial time as preparations for the upcoming inauguration in January 2024 are underway. During his stay in the US, Boakai plans to engage in consultations with various stakeholders in Liberia’s political process. Notably, he will be meeting with members of the Unity Party in America and Canada to express his gratitude for their unwavering support during the 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

Additionally, President-Elect Boakai intends to use this opportunity to visit his close family members residing in the United States. It is worth mentioning that his departure coincides with his 79th birthday celebration, which was commemorated with the official launch of a large-scale clean-up campaign in Montserrado, Margibi, and Grand Bassa Counties. This initiative aligns with Boakai’s vision for improved sanitation nationwide, a key aspect of his platform.

As President-Elect Boakai sets off on his journey, Vice President-Elect Jeremiah Koung has been appointed to oversee the affairs of the Joint Presidential Transition Team in his absence. This ensures a smooth continuation of the transition process, allowing for effective coordination and progress.

The departure of President-Elect Joseph Boakai marks an important step towards the realization of his goals and aspirations for Liberia. It is a time of great anticipation and hope for a brighter future under his leadership.
