President Weah Urges Urgent Action on Alarming Surge of Vulnerable Youths in Liberia

President George Weah has declared the alarming surge in the number of vulnerable youths throughout the country as a pressing matter that demands urgent attention.

He emphasized that the situation is not only concerning for the Liberian government, but it also poses a significant threat to national security, especially with the upcoming presidential and legislative elections on October 10, 2023.

The Liberian leader expressed his distress over the future of the youths, which has been jeopardized by their increasing involvement in illicit activities.

During a special Steering Committee Meeting aimed at addressing this issue, Finance Minister Samuel Tweah conveyed the President’s deep concern and his eagerness to resolve this problem expeditiously.

The President has set a target of 60 to 90 days for the Committee to properly address this national crisis and find viable solutions to support the at-risk youths.
