Pro-Tempore Albert Chie Commends National Elections Commission for Successful Execution of Biometric Voter Registration Exercise in Liberia

In a recent speech to the Liberian Senate, Pro-Tempore Albert Chie praised the National Elections Commission (NEC) for their successful execution of the Biometric Voter Registration (BVR) exercise in all fifteen counties of Liberia.

Despite some initial bumps in the road, Chie commended the NEC for their resilience in overcoming any obstacles.

Chie also expressed gratitude towards the Ministries of Finance, Justice, and the Liberia National Police (LNP) for their assistance in ensuring a fair and peaceful process.

The senator went on to recognize the invaluable contributions of both local and international partners towards the electoral process.

However, Chie also urged the Commission to create an additional period for citizens who were unable to participate in the BVR exercise to do so.

He emphasized the crucial role of the Liberian Senate in guiding the upcoming elections and ensuring a transparent and democratic process.

Chie delivered his speech on May 16, 2023, during the twentieth sitting of the Liberian Senate.
