Rep. Gwaikolo Wants Illegal Nursing Institutions Operating in Liberia Closed

In wave of calls against illegal educational institutions in the country, Nimba County District #9 Representative Johnson Gwaikolo, has called for the closure of institutions operating nursing education in Liberia without accreditation by the Liberia Board of Nursing and Midwifery.

Addressing the media over the weekend, Hon. Gwaikolo called on the government and the Liberian Board for Nursing and Midwifery to scrutinize institutions before awarding them Licenses to operate.

According to him, the lack of adequate preparation by institutions would lead to deficiency in managing the Health Care System of the country, adding that having a vibrant and Sustainable Health Care System in any nation, requires appropriate education and technological structures.

Meanwhile, the Nimba County Lawmaker also called on the government to develop the political will to shut down institutions that are not up to standard as a way of bringing an end to the flooding of unqualified nurses and laboratory technicians.

Representative Gwaikolo maintained that it is better to have few schools that are of high quality than to have Multiple Schools that cannot deliver.
