Senate probes ongoing strike by TU faculty

Monrovia -The Plenary of the Liberian Senate has mandated its Committee on Education and Public Administration to conduct a probe into the crisis at Tubman University and report to Plenary on Thursday, March 17, 2022.

Plenary’s decision was triggered by a concern registered by Maryland County Senator Gbleh-bo Brown bringing to the attention of the Senate, the ongoing strike by faculty members of the Tubman University, complemented by the uprising of students at the University to call for the closure of all schools in the county if the faculty concerns are not addressed.

Maryland County Senator Gbleh-bo Brown made a call for the Board of Trustees and Administration of the University, including the National Commission on Higher Education to be cited by Plenary to provide reasons why academic activities at the University have been closed.

Meanwhile, after a series of debates on the matter by Senators in Session, a motion was proffered by Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon for the Committee on Education to take seize of the matter to report to Plenary next Thursday, March 17, 2022.
