Senate Sets Up Committee to Look at CTN /NPA Revenue Strain

Senate Protempore, Albert Chie, has set up a Committee to look at the Revenue Strain of the National Port Authority ( NPA) and report findings to Plenary in two weeks.

According to a Release from the Senate Press and Public Affairs Department, the decision was trigged by concerns raised by River Gee County Senator, Jonathan Sogbie against the Cargo Tracking Note (CTN) operating at the National Port Authority.

According to the River Gee County Senator, The CNT which is operating as a Private entity at the National Port Authority, does not contribute to the Revenue generation of the Country.

Senator Sogbie maintained, that the plenary once debated the issue and mandated a Joint Committee on Ways Means and Finance and Budget as well as Public Account and Audit to investigate the Issue and report to Plenary which according to him is yet to be done.

However, the Co-Chairman of the Ways Means Finance and Budget, Bong County Senator, Prince Moye, Argued that the CNT as a Private entity operating at the Free Port of Monrovia has a collective responsibility with the Management of the Free Port of Monrovia to contribute to the revenue envelop of the Country and not the CTN alone.

Those appointed include, Sinoe County Senator, Augustine Chea, Margibi County Senator, Emmanuel Nuquay, Grand Bassa County Senator, Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence, Montserrado County Senator, Gbarpolu County Senator, Daniel Naathan and Grand Gedeh County. Senator Zoe Pennue.
