United States-based J. Arnold Kandakai has withdrawn his petition against the political leader of the Unity Party, Joseph Boakai before Civil Law Court “A” Judge, Kennedy Peabody.
It can be recalled that on April 17, 2023, the Resident Judge of the Civil Law Court “A”, Kennedy Peabody summoned the standard bearer of the Unity Party, Joseph Boakai to appear on April 27 this year.
Judge Peabody took the decision based on a complaint filed by the U.S based Liberian through his Attorney In-fact, Reginald Bright over a cloud Title Deed.
The writ of summon was served on the former VP on Thursday, April 13, 2023.
Judge Peabody stressed that the failure of Ambassador Boakai to appear before the court on April 27, 2023, a default judgment would have been rendered against him.
But Kandakai, through one of his lawyers, Cllr. Korvah Jallah informed the court on April 20, 2023, in a notice of withdrawal for the removal of cloud over the title deed.
Cllr. Jallah said they have the right to re-file the petition should the need be.
It is not clear what led to the United States-based Librarian withdrawing his petition of cloud over the title deed against the former Vice President of Liberia.
Close sources to the judicial hinted to Bana FM that following the filing of the withdrawal of the petition against the former VP, one of the lawyers in the case told the court that the withdrawal of the case was not done with the consent of the complainant.
