MONROVIA – The electoral body of Liberia has somewhat ended the long running battle for political supremacy within the Liberty party.

LP Political Leader, Senator Lawrence, has been informed by the National Elections Commission, that it will only recognize the contested 2021 amended constitution of the party.

According to NEC, it decision stands until the law is successfully challenged and amended according to prescribed procedure.

The Elections Commission decision was Communicated to the suspended political leader of the party.

Just days after Senator Lawrence and others were suspended by the party, for failing to pay dues, many were shocked , when she took a decision to revert to the party’s 2015 constitution – a move intended to render the chairmanship position of Musa Bility unconstitutional.

It’s not clear whether the latest decision by NEC will resolve finally the political turmoil within the Liberty, the fact remains that NEC has refused to honor Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence’s decision to revert to the party’s 2015 constitution, making Musa Bility chairman and acting political leader.

Political pundits are still skeptical that calm has returned to the party, fearing that the internal wrangling could deepen.
