Cummings Files US$ 2,500 ‘Criminal Appearance Bond’, as Government Rubbishes Allegations of Conniving With Urey to Split the CPP.

The  political leader of the ANC , Alexander Cummings, on Tuesday escaped incarceration, after he paid a criminal appearance bond of US$ 2, 500.00 at the Monrovia City Court.

The bond was accepted by the Monrovia City Court, headed by Judge Jomah Jallah.

Liberian  Solicitor General,  Cllr. Syranius Cephus,  on Tuesday admonished his fellow prosecuting lawyers not to challenge the criminal appearance bond filed by the ANC political leader.

The payment of the bond follows, after  the Monrovia City Court served a Writ of Arrest on Mr. Cummings for alleged forgery and criminal conspiracy.

Following nearly 50 minutes of deliberations, this is what Cllr. Cephus had  to say in  Court,  “Cummings is an honorable man and should not be treated ordinarily because he has secured a bond. He is free to go anywhere.”

Cllr. Cephus further indicated that the essence of the criminal appearance bond is to ensure that Mr. Cummings avails himself to the court whenever he is needed.

Cummings has since  accused the CDC -led government of ‘conniving’ with the political leader of the All Liberian Party (ALP),  to escalate the already tension  (CPP) within  the opposition political parties.

But  Information Minister,  Ledgerhood Rennie,  has  discounted Cummings’  allegation against the government,  saying that the Liberian government is focused on continuing its efforts,  at delivering on the national development agenda , and has no  interest in the petit and divisive internal political arrangements of the CPP.

While thanking the ANC and his supporters for standing with him, he acknowledge that it was only the beginning of a long legal fight. “…the battle is, however, just beginning so, let’s get ready for a long political fight. Thanks for your show of support,” he said.

The ALP has announced its withdrawal from the CPP – comprising  four opposition political parties including the , ANC, Liberty Party LP and ( ALP.

Urey wants to leave, but according to him, he wants to punish Mr. Cumnings’ ANC for allegedly altering their frame Work document.

At the same time, the Chairman of the Liberty Party wondered why Mr. Cummings and the ANC – a single unit of the CPP – would be taken to court for the alleged forgery of the Framework document when the CPP is an established institution which should be held responsible for its actions.

As the political drama continues among members of the four collaborating parties, claims that they will unseat president Weah in 2023, remains a myth to political pundits, judging from the fact that they are at loggerheads.
