A presidential hopeful in the pending 2023 Legislative and Presidential Elections, Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe wants a comprehensive audit of the Weah-led Government prior to the elections
According to GNN Liberia, Cllr. Gongloe said if it means for the entire three branches of government, all functionaries, including the president himself, must be audited for the sake of accountability and transparency in Liberia.
The presidential hopeful asserted that if such audit is executed, it will help to establish a line of demarcation between what the president has earned for himself as his personal money and properties from public funds.
He alleged that President Weah was able to acquire and erected numerous gigantic buildings for himself just within less than three years, while at the same time his ministers and the rest of the government amassed wealth overnight while majority of those who elected President Weah to the presidency continue to live in abject poverty.
Cllr. Gongloe pointed out that the country’s treasury continues to bleed and is used as fishing net.
The legal luminary is further calling for integrity in government on the part of public functionaries.
He has vowed that if he becomes president of Liberia, he will put into place a compulsory educational program, saying that Weah’s government has no rehabilitation program for the youths and disadvantaged young people.
