Newly Inducted Grand Cape Mount County Senator Appointed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Lands, Mines & Energy

Minutes after his induction into office by the leadership of the Liberian Senate as Senator proper, Senate Pro-tempore Albert Chie has, with immediate effect , appointed Grand Cape Mount County Senator Simeon Boima Taylor as Chair of the Senate’s Committee on Lands, Mines and Energy.

Senator Chie said the Grand Cape Mount County Senator has the vast experience and expertise to chair the Committee, expressing optimism that Senator Taylor will professionally perform his duties to expectation.

In a brief remark, the Grand Cape Mount County Senator lauded the citizens of the county for affording him the opportunity to represent their interests in the legislature.

Senator Taylor also vowed to prioritize his constituents and the development of Grand Cape Mount County.

Prior to his official certification by the National Elections Commission as winner of the December 8, 2020 special senatorial election in Grand Cape Mount County, Senator Simeon Taylor and defeated CDC senatorial candidate, Victor Watson faced over eight months of legal battles for reported electoral fraud and irregularities.

Also speaking, the Chair of the Senate Committee on Executive, Montserrado County Senator, Saah Joseph, cautioned Senator Taylor that there is no permanent friend or enemy in the House of Senate.

The CDC lawmaker further indicated that members of that august body work together as a team in the interest of the citizens and as such, he admonished the Grand Cape Mount County Senator to focus on his legislative duties.
