Members of the Legislature have set November 16 this year as the new date for the conduct of Representative by-elections by the National Elections Commission.
The four counties include Nimba, Bong, Grand Gedeh and Bomi Counties.
The vacancies were created following the December 8, 2020 Special Senatorial elections in the country.
The new by-elections date was earlier agreed upon and forwarded to the Liberian Senate through the office of the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives for concurrence.
Members of the Liberian Senate during their regular Thursday’s session voted for the decision to be implemented by NEC.
The resolution from the Lower House was read in session by the Senate Secretary General, Nanborlor Singbeh.
The Liberian Senate took the decision that all vacancies created through previous elections be filled in accordance with the timeline as provided for by the Constitution of Liberia.
The decision was made following a motion from River Gee County Senator Conmany Wesseh.
