Council of Churches Expresses Deep Concern Over Fire Disasters in the Country

The Liberia Council of Churches has expressed deep concern over the recent fire disaster that led to the destruction of the government run C.H. Rennie Hospital in Margibi County.

According to LCC President Bishop Kortu Brown, the Government of Liberia needs to conduct an investigation to identify the proper cause of the fire disasters at the C.H. Rennie Hospital and other areas in the country.

Recently, the only Government referral Hospital in Margibi County and a Muslim dormitory in Barnesville burned down due to a fire disaster.

At the same time, a fuel tanker also burst into flames on Water Street in central Monrovia, thus destroying several properties including business centers.

But speaking Tuesday, Bishop Brown noted that if the government conducts an investigation and establishes the cause of the numerous fire disasters in the country, it will help citizens to follow the preventive measures to avoid fire outbreak in their areas.

He added that this will give citizens the knowledge on what to do if there is a fire situation in a particular community.

The Liberia Council of Churches further said it is sadden by the fire situations that occurred in Margibi and Montserrado Counties respectively, and called on the victims to be calm as the situation will shortly be resolved.
