The Bureau of Corrections and Rehabilitation under the Ministry of Justice has taken swift action in response to allegations of sexual misconduct by one of its officers.
After confirming reports of involuntary sex with a female inmate in Gbarpolu County, the bureau has dismissed and handed over the officer, Tarnue Johnson, to the police for further investigation.
Assistant Justice Minister Eddie Trawalli stated that the officer’s employment has been terminated and the female inmate has been sent to a local clinic for medical attention.
Trawalli said that the bureau remains committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of all inmates under its care.
