IG Josephine W.A. DavisAssures Peace Islanders Resident Status if they Re-elect President Weah

Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Liberia, the Inspector General of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Vice Chair for Administration of the Coalition for Democratic Change(CDC) Youth League assure the residents of the Peace Island community permanent Status if they re-elect President Weah.

The assurance came during the grand final of the Peace Island Community Sports tournament organized by the community and sponsored by Madam Davis.

Speaking at the Ceremony, Josephine Davis said the fact that people were giving this place to squat, they can never be abandoned. The time will come when something good will come out of this community one day, with the effort and commitment of the people to elect President George Weah for the second time, which will bring a new face and a new dimension to residents of Peace Island.

IG Davis said the people that were neglected and rejected for 12 years today are now beloved boys and girls, because of the benefits, including accessibility to roads and water. These haven been given to them by President Weah, and for this reason many people are trooping into the area looking for rooms to stay in.
She said at night the place is electrified and beautified because of the light that was given to them by President Weah.

The CDC Youth League Vice Chair said the people have entrusted them with six years and all of the good work going on in the country. So much of the six years have been given to the CDC led government and much more will be done.

She futher assured the people that their legitimate status will continue as long they have President Weah as President of Liberia.
The Inspector General opened up, saying that Peace Islanders can take her words to any bank across the country. If we re-elect President Weah they will become legitimate owners of the land in the future.

She extended gratitude to Liberia President for what she termed as giving young people the opportunity to serve their generation and “we are here because he entrusted us to serve you, the people of Peace Island and Liberia at large.

She discloed that Peace Island was rejected and neglected, “People thought that nothing good could come out of the area, but because of President Weah, today the entire area is electrified and the community is one of the safest places to live in Liberia.”

The Commerce Inspector General concluded by saying that the Peace Island people, who tend to be unlawful, have exebeted the opposite of that because the games were peaceful and will organize and show that the people are peaceful and law abiding.

She extended thanks and appreciation to the winners of the tournament and presented a set of jerseys to each of the participating teams from block A to block F and middle side trophy to the Female Winners and giant side trophy to Male Winners.

Remarking at the same time is the Community Chairman, Mr. Sam Passawa. “I am very greatful to you and your foundation, Madam Davis, for not turning down on us went we ask you to sponsor this tournament and we are very great full. Let God continue to bless and favor you.”
