Intofawor Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative Society, located in Foya City, Lofa County, has announced they will be bringing to an end the country’s huge importations of stable food (rice).
Speaking to a team of reporters on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, on the farm of the institution in Foya City, Lofa County, the General Supervisor, Fofana Jangai, indicated that once they begin production they will be able to produce 16 metric tons a day, which is equivalent to 320 bags of rice.

According to Mr. Jangai, the company has met the capacity to produce all types of rice including, butter rice, pot boil rice, pussawa amongst others.
He maintained that their main plights are just to reduce the country’s huge importations of rice on the world market.

“We have started incorporating farmers in the county who will be able to supply us with sea rice while we will also be able to empower them to enhance their farming,”he mentioned.
Mr. Fofana Jangai further indicated that the board of the company has reserved to begin official production in 2023.

According to him, a bag of 25kg rice will be sold for a reasonable course to help reduce the burden on the citizenry in Liberia.
“I can assure you now that the price of rice on the Liberian market will reduce immediately, by the time we begin official production,” he said.
