LLA/Swedish MSLRA Holds Regional Training in Gbarnga

A five-day training on customary land formalization process and documentation has begun in Bong County.

The training is focused on all six basic steps of customary land formalization from community self-identification (CSI) to the registration of Community Statutory Deed, including the development of governance structures, the verification of by-laws and establishment of Community Land Development and management committees (CLDMC), mapping, identification and harmonization of boundary, confirmatory survey, registration of deeds etc.

The regional training is being implemented by the LLA with support from Lantmäteriet, the Swedish Mapping, Survey and Land Registration Authority, under a five-year Inclusive Land Administration and Management Project (ILAMP), with funding from the Swedish International Development and Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Addressing a team of reporters on the third day of the workshop, the Customary Land Right Officer, Mrs Gmasoah Aboah, said they drew their participants from five counties from Liberia’s 15 counties.

According to her, after the five days of intensive training participants will be awarded a certificate.

The training which is currently taking place in Bong County commenced on February 14, 2022, and is expected to end February 18, 2022.
