Late on Sunday night, Charles Coffey, the outgoing president of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), suffered a broken leg in a devastating road accident that resulted in one fatality near Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
Reports indicate that Coffey and his driver were traveling along the Firestone-Buchanan highway when one of their vehicle’s tires suffered a puncture.
In an effort to address the issue, they enlisted the help of a commercial motorcyclist to transport them to Buchanan for repair or replacement.
While enroute, a speeding vehicle collided with them, tragically killing the motorbike rider and injuring both Coffey and his driver.
They were rushed to the Government Hospital in Buchanan for immediate medical attention before being transferred to Monrovia for further treatment.
