Women in Maryland County Vow to Boycott 2023 Elections , Due to Lack of Justice

Liberia: The women were cleared with their position , that if the culprits who murdered Modecious Nyema are not brought to justice, they will boycott the 2023 legislative and presidential elections.

 

Chris Walker, head of the rural women in the County said, despite they have received package which includes; rice, cow, drinks, monies amongst other from President George Weah as an apology to them, the matter remains worrisome.

Madam Walker said , they want justice in the case of the late Modeciou Nyemah.

According to her, since the beginning of the case, she has made several follow ups as head of the rural women, but prove futile.

Madam Walker disclosed that in December 2021, she visited the office of the Ministry of Justice, the office of the President, and the Maryland Legislative caucus and presented formal letters of appeals for the hearing of the case.

But the rural women head said , since the letters were served, it was only the Ministry of Justice that responded; while a senior official of Maryland County has promised to have taken her to the president office, but failed to do so.

Maryland County Superintendent George Prowd earlier assured family of the deceased that justice will be accorded them.

Superintendent Prowd said , the Government of Liberia is committed to protecting the lives of citizens and foreign residents, while condemning ritualistic killings across the country.
